Practical Systems is an all-Australian company run by a team with extensive experience in farming, accounting and software development. The two original, and current, Executive Directors - Bob Locke and Hugh Beattie - and Software Manager Vernon van Duijnhoven have considerable practical experience in these areas. The company has been developing farm management and business accounting software products since 1992.
Practical Systems has grown through developing new management software and has a steadily expanding user base, now selling to clients nationwide and in New Zealand. The company is based in Armidale, New South Wales, and is represented throughout Australia and New Zealand by accredited local agents.
Our software products are developed specifically for Australian farmers and other small business operators. We have products that specifically cater for the livestock industries, cropping and broadacre farms, mixed livestock and cropping production and property management planning, using mapping software.
Our products meet the requirements of relevant farm production Quality Assurance systems and satisfy local and export marketing requirements. The products all integrate with hi-tech data collection devices such as radio frequency identification tag readers, electronic scales and hand held units.

Chartered Accountant with over 27 years experience in Public Accounting dealing with a range of farming, small business and institutional clients. Over 17 years experience using computerised accounting and management systems. Completed the technical design and programming of the company’s two original software products; Cashbook Plus! financial management system and Farmbook - farm records system.

| Retired from Royal Australian Airforce as Wing Commander in 1983 to commence farming operations in the New England tablelands of NSW conducting a superfine wool growing and commercial merino stud. Joined Practical Systems in 1993 having had several years experience using computers as management, planning and recording tools for his two farming operations. He was the co-designer of the company's original two software products. Responsible for the design of farm software programs and the company’s business development activities. |
